The city clerk provides administrative support, in close coordination with the city manager, and is responsible for: 

  • giving notices of official public meetings cityclerk/page/legal-notices-and-official-advertisements; elections; competitive bids; charter amendments; city-commission board vacancies; charter officers' appointments, and other official advertisements;
  • preparing city commission and related board meeting agenda; recording official actions prior to commission approval, and maintaining minutes of all the city's official meetings http://www.fruitlandpark.org/meetings
  • serving as the city's appointed records management liaison officer in establishing and maintaining an active and continuing records management program which provides for the scheduling and disposition of public records under Chapters 119 and 257, Florida Statutes; coordinating standards, procedures and techniques for efficient and economical records creation and recordkeeping, and allowing for the inspection of and access to public records; http://www.fruitlandpark.org/cityclerk/page/public-records and lien searches cityclerk/page/lien-search;
  • preparing for the general codification after charter adoption; administering the publication, maintenance, and distribution of the city's code of ordinances and supplements in accordance with the charter https://library.municode.com/fl/fruitland_park/codes/code_of_ordinances (which is currently undergoing a complete recodification) and certifying the code of ordinances correctness once published;
  • as the city's designated coordinator/filing officer, providing the Florida Commission on Ethics with a list of individuals holding governmental positions who are required to file financial disclosure https://disclosure.floridaethics.gov/Faq;
  • functioning as the local supervisor of elections in conjunction and coordination with the county's supervisor of elections https://www.lakevotes.com/
  • administering and recording oaths of office to city officials; 
  • updating and rotating invitations to volunteer chaplains to open city commission meetings /community/page/places-worship;
  • attesting, certifying signatures of official records and affixing seals in the clerk's custody on enacted ordinances and adopted resolutions and maintaining them in properly indexed books (the city clerk is the individual responsible for certifying a copy of any original record of the city by affixing her signature on each page of the document to be certified along with the date and an imprint of the city seal);
  • recording other official documents with the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller https://officialrecords.lakecountyclerk.org/ (please note the attached Lake County News Release below warning about official-looking recorded deed notices), and  
  • issuing business tax receipts to individuals before engaging in business in the City of Fruitland Park cityclerk/page/business-tax-receipt-application.
