Legal Notices and Official Advertisements
Citizens have a constitutional right of access to city meetings. The Government-in-the-Sunshine Law requires boards to meet which are open to the public and reasonable notice of meetings given. Such notices:
- contain the time and place of the meeting, if available, an agenda and if no agenda is available, a statement of the general subject matter to be considered;
- are displayed prominently on the bulletin board outside the front of city hall and on the city's website: city commission meeting schedule and http://www.fruitlandpark.org/meetings, and
- are provided at least seven days prior to meetings except in the case of emergency or special meetings which may be held on the call of the mayor or majority of commission members whenever practicable with at least 72 hours' reasonable notice to the public.
Any person requiring special accommodation at this meeting because of disability or physical impairment should contact the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall (352) 360-6727 at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the meeting. If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City of Fruitland Park with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings and ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. The city does not provide verbatim records. Art. I, s. 24, Florida Constitution and Chapter 286, Florida Statutes http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&U...
