Library Advisory Board
The City of Fruitland Park ("city") owns and operates The Fruitland Park Library ("library") which is a participating library in the Lake County Library system. In 1983, the city and county entered into an interlocal agreement for the provision of library services and sharing of responsibilities and duties.
The city commission designates a representative and alternate (city residents) to be appointed for four years by the Lake County Board of County Commissioners ("county commission") to serve on the Lake County Library Advisory Board ("board").
The board studies and makes recommendations to the county commission regarding the coordination and development of the Lake County Library System. This includes recommending countywide policies, long-range plans and annual plans of service. The board also makes recommendations regarding the county's budget for the countywide library system; the proportionate shares of all county funds to be allocated to the participating libraries; and the method of distribution of those funds.
